Suzhou is one of the most important cities in Jiangsu province. The city is famous for its beautiful gardens and water sideways. The gardens of Suzhou were inscribed by Unesco World Heritage List in 1997.

Suzhou Image

Where is Suzhou?
Suzhou is a city on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and on the shores of Lake Taihu in the province of Jiangsu, China.

What can I see in Suzhou?
It’s hard to summarize here but the main things to see in Suzhou are beautiful gardens, stone bridges and other things. The Humble Administrator’s Garden (Zhuo Zheng Yuan 拙政园), The Garden of the Master of the Nets (Wang Shi Yuan 网师园), The Lingering Garden (Liu Yuan 留园), The Lion Forrest Garden (Shi Zi Lin 狮子林), The Surging Wave Pavilion (Canglang Ting 沧浪亭), The Retreat and Reflection Garden (Tui Si Yuan 退思园) are important gardens to visit in Suzhou.
The region is in Yangtze Delta River region. The city can be accepted as a business-travel destination around Silk Industry.

How old is the city?
Some tribes naming themselves as “Gou Wu” were located in this region during the Shang Dynasty, 2500 years before. During King Ted Lin, the city has became the capital city and metropole of that time.

How can I get to Suzhou by plane?
Suzhou doesn’t have a passenger airport so you’ll need to use airports in Shanghai. You can use Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG ICAO: ZSPD) for international flights. Pudong airport is approximately 120 km away from Suzhou but you can get to the city by shuttles which take you to the city in one and a hour bus trip.

How can I get to Suzhou by train?
Suzhou is close to Shanghai-Nanjing railway. If you get to Shanghai, you can get to the city by this railway. If you go Suzhou from Nanging (¥67) it may take 1 and a half hour. If you go from Shanghai, the trip may take 40 minutes and may cost ¥26.

What are the landmarks of Suzhou?
The main landmarks of Suzhou are Pan Gate, Tiger Hill (Huqiu), Xuanmiao Guan (originally built in 276), Huqiu Temple (originally built in 327, rebuilt in 1871), Hanshan Temple (Hanshan Si) (built in 503, destroyed and rebuilt many times, last reconstruction in 1896. It is a Buddhist temple.), Baodai Bridge, also called Precious Belt Bridge (built in 816, rebuilt in 1442), Shantang Canal (built in 825), Yunyan Pagoda (built in 961), Beisi Pagoda, Ruiguang Pagoda (built in 1009), Lingering Garden (Liu Yuan), Master of the Nets Garden (Wang Shi Yuan) (built in the Song Dynasty), Great Wave Pavilion (Canglang Ting) (built in 1696), Mountain Villa with Embracing Beauty, Lion Grove Garden (built in 1342), Garden of Cultivation, The Retreat & Reflection Garden, Couple’s Retreat Garden, Humble Administrator’s Garden (Zhuozheng Yuan) (built in 1513, rebuilt in 1860), Gate of the Orient, the city’s tallest building due for completion in 2011, Suzhou Museum the newly built museum by I. M. Pei, Suzhou Silk Museum and Suzhou Museum of Opera and Theatre.

Suzhou Landmarks

Where is Pan Gate?
Pan Gate is in the south-west of Main Canal. The gate is a very important historical landmark of the city. Originally built during the Warring States Period in the state of Wu, historians estimate it to be around 2,500 years old. Pan Gate was the only gate known for the ancient Suzhou in the walls protecting the city.

Where is Xuanmiao Temple?
Xuanmiao Temple (Chinese: 玄妙观) is a prominent Taoist temple with a long history, located at the center of ancient Suzhou City.

Canada is a very large country and as the northernmost point of North America, it has many natural reserves. As a result of those natural reserves Canada is a beautiful choice for photography. I chose some scenic pictures from different part of the country.

The first picture is by Ujjwal Kumar, published in Wikipedia Community under public domain. The picture is from the Horseshoe Falls

The second image I selected is from the historic city in Quebec.

The third image I selected is from 1949. The image was taken from the subway-construction of Toronto. Today, the subways and underground cities are important parts of Canadian life.

The following pictures I choice are from old and new Montreal. The first is the new Downtown Montreal,

and the second image is from the begining of the century, 1910:

As the second largest country in the world, Canada has large and untouched natural reserves. With its unique culture and wealthy cities, the country is a great tourism destination. The country is the northernmost point in the North America so winter tourism is very active across the country. The country uses 6 different time zones and has a connection to two oceans. Tourism activities gather mostly in the southern locations of the country because most of the population is within the first 100 km after passing the United States border.

New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are Atlantic provinces of the country. Halifax is the main airport of the Atlantic provinces for the tourists. The tourism activities we offer may differ from seeing the historical places in Halifax Citadel to visiting coal mine under ocean floor (very serious) in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Quebec is the largest province in Canada and has the second highest population with large cities like Montreal or Quebec City. Montreal is an hour away from New York and not more than 6 hours flight from Europe. The places to see may differ from Provincial Parks to Montmorency Falls. The province has many touristic activites like Montreal International Jazz Festival or Just For Laughs Festival.

Ontario is the largest province by population. Important cities like Toronto and Ottawa are important tourism destinations. Hiking Sleeping Giant, visiting Old Growth Forest, camping in Bruce Peninsula National Park or riding in South Simcoe may be perfect travel activities.

British Columbia is one of the provinces of Canada. Vancouver is the heart of the province and the most active touristic destinaton. The things you can do in British Colombia are visiting International Buddhist Temple, Goho or Glacier National Parks. The things you do include skiing or winter surfing.

Northwest Territories, Nunavut or Yukon are in the northernmost point of Canada and are not visited frequently. These places include untouched natural reserves (but may be dangerous to visit alone.)
